ATTEMPTED MURDER CONVICTION SECURED

Kate Blumgart and Charles Drinnan secure convictions for Attempted Murder, Wounding with Intent, Attempted Wounding with Intent, ABH and Possession of Knifes after a 14-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

The Defendant attacked members of the public with Stanley knife blades. The victim of the Attempted Murder had his throat slit nearby to the Tower of London in what was a savage, unprovoked and random attack. The other attacks were similarly random and violent, with the Defendant slashing members of the public with Stanley knife blades on buses and in a pub. The case involved novel points of law and required careful presentation as the incidents were split across five dates over a two-year period in locations around the country.

The Defendant will be sentenced in Spring 2024.

Kate Blumgart and Charles Drinnan were instructed for the prosecution by the CPS Crown Court North-East Unit.
