Nick Worsley KC secured the conviction of 'M' who waged a campaign of drugging, raping and sexually abusing his victim over a period of 8 years.
M pleaded guilty to some charges in an attempt to stymie the police investigation into his further offending. When this failed he sacked his legal team and attempted, but failed, to vacate his pleas.
Sentencing M, HHJ Potter described M’s “remorseless sexual abuse”:
“It is difficult to imagine a more profound effect that offending could have on a human being. Your offending comprised a significant degree of planning, an abuse of trust and you used drugs to facilitate the offences”.
