Paul Cavin KC and Sam Barker prosecuted Marcin Buryta for the murder of Piotr Pruszak before Mrs Justice Williams at Winchester Crown Court. The Crown’s case was that the Defendant, who was a drug dealer armed with an “arsenal” of deadly weapons including two semi automatic pistols, killed his victim by shooting him four times.
During the course of the trial, the prosecution secured the admission of the Defendant’s previous conviction for Manslaughter and videos of the Defendant discussing his trial in Poland for that offence. After a 3 week trial, having disproved the Defendant’s account, and carefully presented ballistic and pathological evidence, the Defendant was unanimously convicted of murder and sentenced to Life with a minimum term of 30 years.
