WOMAN DETAINED INDEFINITELY FOR KILLING HER TWO CHILDREN AND STABBING HER HUSBAND
Amy Oliver acted as Junior Prosecuting counsel, led by Peter Grieves-Smith of the Crown Prosecution Service. The murder trial could not take place in the usual way as the defendant was found to be unfit to plead, due to suffering from mental disorders, so the jury was instead asked to determine whether the defendant did the acts. After hearing the evidence, the jury found all the acts proved, namely that the defendant had killed her two children and stabbed her husband (who survived the attack). The defendant was ordered to be detained in a secure hospital, with a s.41 restriction order not limited in time.
