NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL ZOMBIE-KNIFE ATTACKER JAILED FOR 18 YEARS
Following the successful prosecution by Mark Paltenghi, at a trial at the Old Bailey in May, Rumarni Tuitt was sentenced on Friday to 18 years’ detention for attempted murder at the Notting Hill Carnival on 26 August last year. During the trial, the court heard that Mr Tuitt and victim did not know each other before their paths crossed, just before 8.00pm. There was no evidence that he harboured any grievance, but during a ferocious attack, Tuitt sliced open Mr Spooner’s stomach with a 12-inch zombie knife and then stabbed him four more times in the side and back. Four of the injuries were life-threatening. Tuitt said that he was acting in self-defence, but the jury rejected his claim.
