CLASS A DRUG IMPORTERS SENTENCED
Three members of an organised crime group were sentenced this week at Kingston Crown Court following a five-week drugs importation trial, in a case prosecuted by John Ojakovoh and Charles Drinnan. One of the three, a Security Manager at Heathrow Airport, had used his trusted position to meet two drug couriers arriving on a flight from Colombia where they had been sent to collect 22 kilos of cocaine in two holdalls, with a street value of some £2 million. The Security Manager was apprehended with the holdalls in a Heathrow vehicle. He was sentenced to 16.5 years’ imprisonment. The other two men each received 14.5 years for their part organising and directing the two couriers. Confiscation proceedings against the three will follow. The two drug couriers had previously pleaded guilty and were each sentenced to 6 years 8 months in 2022.
John Ojakovoh and Charles Drinnan were instructed for the prosecution by Tim Burton of the CPS Serious Economic Organised Crime and International Directorate. The case was investigated by the National Crime Agency.
