ATTEMPTED RAPE ACQUITTAL SECURED

Charles Drinnan secured the acquittal of his client on a charge of attempted rape at Wood Green Crown Court, following a 10-day trial. The defendant was convicted of a lesser offence.

The defendant was accused of attempting to rape the complainant at a family BBQ. Charles argued that the Crown’s witnesses were demonstrably unreliable due to lies and inconsistencies. The issues for the jury were whether the act of attempted rape was made out, whether the complainant consented and whether the defendant’s belief in her consent was reasonable.

Charles regularly appears in the Crown Court on a range of serious and complex criminal cases, including serious sexual offences.

Charles was instructed by Rhean Bailey of Goldman Bailey Solicitors.
