SIX YEARS' IMPRISONMENT FOR UNLAWFUL IMMIGRATION CONSPIRACY
Amy Oliver secured the conviction and sentence of a man who played a key role in a conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration. Gerald Cera falsely claimed to be the father of 8 Albanian babies on applications for them to have UK passports. His sentence followed a trial in August during which he maintained he had had sexual relationships with all of the mothers as a result of which they had given birth to his children. He was convicted by the jury.
Cera was also sentenced to 1 year (concurrent) for an offence under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, for failing to disclose the passwords to his phone and laptop when required by a notice, after the jury disbelieved his account that he had forgotten his passwords.
The case was investigated by the Home Office, and prosecuted by Amy Oliver, instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service
