MANSLAUGHTER CONVICTIONS SECURED
A jury at Leicester Crown Court has returned verdicts following the trial of a university student for stabbing his former friend. The defendant, who was found to have brought a knife to the scene, stabbed the deceased at least five times but claimed he had acted in self-defence. The prosecution team proved this was not the case, and the jury found the defendant guilty of manslaughter, possession of an offensive weapon and failing to provide the PIN to his phone. The judge imposed a total sentence of 10 years.
