Ranked as a leading barrister in legal directories, Leo practises in all areas of criminal and regulatory law.
He advises on and appears as lead counsel in large, multi-handed cases involving complex, technical and sensitive evidence.
He is instructed in cases including murder, manslaughter and terrorism. He also has a wealth of experience in the field of financial crime and white collar crime, recently appearing for the prosecution in a 4-month £12m duty fraud at Kingston Crown Court. He appeared in the first ever case concerning criminal benefit obtained from the operation of an unregistered money service business (Southwark CC), developing at first instance the law in this field of financial crime.
Leo is instructed to appear in the High Court in sensitive ex parte matters.
Through client recommendations he has developed a busy direct access practice, providing advice to clients at the pre-charge stage and defending them successfully at trial.
He is a ‘Grade 4’ panel advocate and is appointed at that grade to a number of specialist panels, including: the Counter Terrorism panel, the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences panel, the Serious Fraud panel and the Serious Crime panel.

Op Gnathonize – (leading counsel) – multi-handed conspiracies to import cocaine and launder money; including the use of foreign intercept material.
Op Donezteba – (leading counsel) – multi-handed case concerning the purchasing, conversion, possession and use of ammunition and firearms to commit attempted murder.
Op Chueen – (leading counsel) – 15-handed drugs conspiracy.
R-v-X – prosecuting a defendant alleged to have engaged in conduct in preparation for acts of extreme right-wing / neo-Nazi terrorism.
Ops Concho and Henothies – proactive police investigation into county lines drugs conspiracies involving 28 defendants.
R-v-Pollard and Patterson – IPCC-led investigation into police officers sabotaging child sexual abuse investigations.
Op Dalmas - £12m 8-handed duty fraud.
R-v-T – double attempted murder.
R-v-Miller & others – conspiracies to supply firearms / ammunition (a case concerning one of the Met’s largest ever seizures of ammunition).
