Walter Verkaik
YEAR OF CALL 2024
Walter was taken on as a tenant in October 2025 following the successful completion of his pupillage. He accepts instructions to prosecute and defend in all areas of criminal law and he is available for hearings in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Court.
During his pupillage, Walter observed a wide range of serious criminal trials, including murders, baby shaking, and complicated frauds. Walter has already begun to forge a career defending and prosecuting across the board, including cases involving serious violence, weapons, and the importation and supply of drugs.
Walter is continuing to develop his practice across all areas of chambers’ criminal work and is recognised for his persuasiveness, diligence, and his composed courtroom style. His courteous but firm approach enables him to cut through to the heart of the case. Walter’s considerate and personable presence makes him popular with professional and lay clients. Walter brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in criminal trials involving weapons as he continues to act as a trustee at one of the UK’s largest knife crime prevention charities.
Please contact our clerks to instruct Walter or for further details of his practice.
