Fenn Van den Brande

Fenn Van den Brande was taken on as a tenant in October 2025 following the successful completion of his pupillage. He accepts instructions to prosecute and defend in all areas of criminal law and is available for hearings in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts. Fenn is Grade 2 on the CPS Advocate Panel.
Fenn observed a wide range of serious and challenging criminal cases during pupillage and has already built his own busy practice as a confident and capable junior advocate.
He is currently instructed as junior counsel in a multi-handed conspiracy to commit robbery of motor vehicles and by the Insolvency Service in a case involving fraudulent trading that resulted in a loss to creditors in excess of £1 million over a 7 year period.
Fenn is developing his skills across all areas of Chambers’ criminal work and is noted for his preparation, analytical ability and courtroom presence. His measured style of advocacy and personable approach makes him popular with professional and lay clients alike. He brings with him varied experience gained from a background in politics and as a paralegal in a criminal defence firm.
Recent cases / instructions include:
R v J (Isleworth Crown Court, 2025) - Conviction secured in a property investment fraud which resulted in a loss of £10,000 for the victim who had died shortly before trial.
R v G (Salisbury Crown Court, 2025) - Successful prosecution of an ABH involving an attack on a council repair worker.
R v F (Portsmouth Crown Court, 2025) - Sentence reduced on appeal for 14 offences from 1 year immediate imprisonment to 4 months suspended.
