Alice Hewett

YEAR OF CALL 2022

Alice is a diligent, efficient and trustworthy junior, impressing both lay and professional clients. She's often sought after for particularly sensitive work, and is exceptional with vulnerable clients.

Alice accepts instructions across Chambers’ areas of expertise and is regularly instructed in cases beyond her call. As well as routinely conducting Crown Court trials herself, Alice has been led in multi-handed conspiracy cases including theft and large-scale drug importation. Alice also appears before civil tribunals including in the High Court, and before panels in matters of professional discipline.

Alice is currently instructed as Junior Counsel in the Omagh Bombing Inquiry on behalf of His Majesty’s Government. She also accepts instructions from the Metropolitan Police Service and other government agencies, who she advises on matters of national security and counter-terrorism.

Before coming to the Bar, Alice gained significant experience in inquests and public inquiries. While a paralegal with the Metropolitan Police Service, she assisted in the Dawn Sturgess Inquiry, the East London Inquests, and the Angiolini Inquiry. She also worked alongside King’s Counsel on the Duke of Sussex’s Judicial Review proceedings.
