Hugh is a leading criminal barrister who has developed a respected and thriving criminal practice which sees him both prosecuting and defending in equal measure.
He is instructed by the CPS both as a leading and a led junior and has considerable experience of prosecuting multi-handed cases of the utmost seriousness. He is a Grade 4 prosecutor for the CPS who is listed on four specialist panels: Counter Terrorism, Serious Crime Group, Specialist Fraud, and Rape and Child Sexual Abuse. In the last year he has prosecuted (as leading junior) nine defendants for their involvement in an international Organised Crime Group and an employee of a multi-national company who stole hundreds of thousands of pounds from his company.
His defence practice takes him out of London where his attention to detail and tenacity is much in demand by returning clients and Instructing Solicitors. He is instructed as leading junior and on his own in the most serious cases including cases of murder, violence, fraud and serious sexual offences. In the last year he has represented (as leading junior) an individual accused of assisting in an attempted murder and has secured acquittals for clients in allegations of attempted murder, drug dealing and money laundering.
