About Us

Atkinson Bevan Chambers has long held a reputation for excellence in the field of criminal law. Chambers was created by counsel involved in the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials and has been established at 2 Harcourt Buildings in the Temple since 1953.

Members of chambers are involved in all kinds of criminal cases including high profile and sensitive matters. We are well represented on the following specialist panels, established to ensure that cases are dealt with by counsel of appropriate expertise and experience:

•Attorney-General's Panel of Prosecution Advocates;
•Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs Panel of Prosecution Advocates;
•Rape and Serious Sexual Offences List;
•Serious Fraud Office Counsel List.

In addition to appearing on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service and defence solicitors' firms, members of chambers are regularly instructed by local authorities and other agencies including DEFRA, TFL and the RSPCA. We also welcome instructions from corporate bodies and private individuals.

Chambers is committed to maintaining a balance of prosecution and defence work. Members are encouraged to develop their practices accordingly as we feel this provides a wider perspective that benefits all clients.

In addition to the field of criminal law, members of chambers have significant experience in the following practice areas:

•Regulatory and disciplinary work, including both police, prison and General Medical Council disciplinary tribunals;
•Parole board hearings;
•Coroners' Inquests;
•Courts-Martial;
•Licensing.

We are committed to maintaining excellent working relationships with existing clients, and welcome the opportunity to work with new clients in all areas of the country.
