CLERKING SERVICES

The Clerks' Room is headed by Simon Butler. He has over 20 years' experience in the Temple and leads a committed team - David Fardon, Matthew Horton, Tom O'Connor and Marlon McCaskill. Our Chambers' Administrator, Vicky Beasley, works with Simon on business development and administration.

Between them, the clerks are responsible for the day to day running of the set, liaising closely with clients to ensure the efficient conduct of their cases.

Our clerks are always willing to advise on the suitability or availability of individual members for cases, and to answer any queries on fees.

Charging is usually based either on hourly rates (determined by the complexity of the case, the issues involved, and the experience of counsel required) or on a fixed fee system, such as graduated fees.

All time spent on a case is recorded on our computer system and endorsed on the brief. If requested, the clerks will give a general estimate of likely fees in advance, although this may need to be revised once papers are available.

Any estimate given is recorded on our computerised fees system.
